Running the demo
----------------
Required:
- 386 or higher processor (486 strongly recommended)
- 550k free base memory
- Sound Blaster compatible sound card
If you're having trouble with base memory, run the demo without sound, this
requires about 300k less memory. However, 550k shouldn't be hard to attain!!
DO NOT run this demo under any multitasking O/S unless you want to watch it
in jerk-o-vision (tm)!! Even Windows 95 will cause problems; the timeslicing
upsets the finely tuned (8-) VGA sync in places and can really screw it up.
Also, the sound is unlikely to work under anything but DOS. In short, run
the demo under DOS or not at all. You have been warned! ;)
Source Code
-----------
The full source to this demo is included with the ZIP file - I'm a strong
believer in free source code, so here's proof! Lots of people out there have
helped me out, so I'm trying to return the favour. In fact, while I'm on the
subject, here's some people I'd like to thank:
Frontman/Crew242 - thanks for the greet in Sound System 2 m8! Sorry this greet
is so long in coming...
Denthor/Asphyxia - Your tutes and help in the past is appreciated!
SCubed/PsychicLink - Dunno if you'll get this greet since I haven't heard from
ya in a while - you still coding? Giz a call!
Tran/Renaissance - I haven't used it here, but your PMODE kernel is excellent.
Future Crew - cheers for releasing your Mental source code. (the MOD playing
code is filched from there ;)
Simon Booth - our chat's over Fidonet were enlightening! Hope I contributed
sommat too - still reckon my scaler's quicker ;)
Mike Abrash - GREAT articles in Dr Dobbs, great books. Awesome.
And everybody else - sorry if I've forgotten you in the list, but its late! ;)

General
-------
This demo is the product of about 3 months work (albeit only an hour or so a
week's coding time), and has been as much of a learning experience as
anything - I've effectively taught myself ASM through writing this demo.
This means that the code at the end of the demo is better than the code at
the start! ;) So, if you're looking through the code and thinking "Christ,
that's not very good code!!" then you're probably right! It gets better.
I hope!
Troubleshooting
---------------
-"Divide overflow" error when starting the demo:
I've had this a couple of times - it only happens when some other program
has been using the sound card, or when TSR's to drive CD players etc have
been loaded. Try running it again after removing the TSR's (if it's because
another program was using the sound card very recently, the gap in time should
be enough to sort it out). Failing that, reboot and try again.
-The demo hangs at the start, sound card clicks like crazy:
You're probably running under Win95, O/S2 or some other multitasker. You
can't run the demo with sound. Boot into DOS!!
-Sound only runs for a few seconds, then stops:
You've specified the wrong IRQ. Try again.
That's all the problems I've found! The sound works fine on all SB's that I've
tried (SB 2.0, SB16, AWE32), but I haven't tried it on the 'clone' cards.
If you have one of these, I can't guarantee the results I'm afraid!
Well, that's it. Hope you liked/will like the demo! Call Black Ice!! You
know it makes sense!
Seeya!
